Have an Attitude of Gratitude!

What are you grateful for?

What do you have in your life that you should have gratitude for?

What would you like to have in your life?

My Gratitude Bracelet

Watching the authors of "The Secret" being interviewed on TV inspired me and I immediately went out to buy the DVD. I woke up the next morning with the idea of making gratitude bracelets. The first one was my own, pictured above.  The base of the bracelet is made with sterling letter beads saying, "I am grateful for."  Gratitude bracelets are like little vision boards that you have with you all day long.

My gratitude bracelet reminds me to be grateful for all the good things that are, or will be, in my life. I'm grateful for my Yorkie, Chloe. Iím grateful for my house, for my good health, for my bead store and for my EZ Bracelet ô bracelet sizer. My bead store is represented by a little word charm that says "I Love Beads."  When I see and touch it, I remember to be grateful for my store and all the good things it has brought me. I have a Yorkie charm, a charm to represent my house, one for my health and other charms representing my good friends and family.

But there are other things I would like to have in my life. I have a heart problem and I want to manifest a healthy heart. So I added a heart charm to my bracelet. Every time I touch my bracelet, I visualize my healthy heart.

I would like to lose some weight. So, every day, I'm grateful for my beautiful, healthy, slim body.

The reason I know this technique works is because I've used it so many times in my life.

A long time ago, I was living with a boy friend who didn't want to celebrate Christmas because he said we couldn't afford to spend a hundred dollars on each other. No matter how much we argued, I couldn't change his mind. So, one morning I left the house to go to a cafe and thought, "If only I could find 10 bucks, I could buy him a gift. If only I could...." A block from my home, there it was! A ten dollar bill was laying on the ground. I don't know why I didn't think to ask for more! But the next day, it happened again! I swear! Anyway, living with that fool was always a struggle when it came to financial matters and I used the Law of Attraction to bring me money whenever things were rough. I found $50 on the floor at a store when I really needed some spending money. Another time I found $300 when I was having a hard time paying for my tuition.

Well, that was in the 1980's. Since then, when I want something, I just start looking for it. Somehow, things always find ME! It's weird. I have a reputation for having good luck, for having good things come to me, for leading a charmed life. Whenever I am undertaking a new project, like opening my bead store, for example, I just tell people that, "Whatever I need will find me!"

Soon after I opened Gossamer Wings Beads, I was pretty low on money, having spent a fortune on beads, carpeting and displays. My store is furnished with white plaster pillars and glass table tops. I had one pillar left over and just couldn't afford $50 for another round glass table top. The next morning, on my way to work, I was driving out of my trailer park, past the dumpster. Someone had thrown out a sofa next to the dumpster. I drove past the sofa and in my rear view mirror, there it was; my round glass table top sitting on the sofa! It wasn't even chipped and it was exactly the same size as the others!

Last year I wanted to buy a house and made a list of all the things I wanted. I wanted a kitchen that is open to the dining and living area so when I have guests, I can interact with them while I'm cooking. I wanted a sunny yoga room, wood floors, a fenced yard for Chloe and, among other things, I wanted it to be within walking distance to my store. I carried the list with me for months. On my first (and only) day of house hunting, there were 13 houses in the paper in my price range. The fifth one I looked at was THE one! Everything on my list was in this house and it was in my price range and only 12 blocks from my store.

I called my cousin, Greg, a real estate agent, to help me with the paper work. During the 30 days it took to close on the house, he expressed concern that everything was going too smoothly. He was worried that something was going to go wrong and prevent me from closing on the house. I told him, "Don't you know? I lead a charmed life! That's just the way things go for me!" He said he'd never sold a house where there were no complications. But, of course, the closing went smoothly as I had predicted.

I think one reason I lead a charmed life is that I am always grateful for what I have. I stand in the shower in the morning thinking how great it is that I can just stand there, with my eyes closed, leaning against the wall and enjoying the hot water on my body. So many people in the world don't have hot water, or running water, or a shower of their own or a home of their own in which to shower! Why am I so lucky?

When I'm feeling bad, it seems that someone always comes into view to let me know I should be grateful for what I have. It could be a person in a wheel chair at the grocery store, or someone who is obviously in poor health. It brings me back to reality. It reminds me that even though I have a cold, or cut my finger and had to go to the doctor, that I should just quit obsessing about it and be happy that I'm not in worse shape. I would never trade my problems for someone elseís problems!

It's not that nothing ever goes wrong in my life. It's just that I have an attitude of being happy with what I have. I appreciate the fact that things could be a whole lot worse. I know that no matter what awful things could happen to me, there would always be someone worse off than me. Iím actually grateful for my problems!

Iím living proof that if you focus on what you DO want and are grateful for what you DO have, good things will continue to come into your life and your little problems will always be little.

Recently, I Experienced Someone Else's Charmed Life

Recently, I experienced someone else's charmed life. I was visiting my cousin, Jenny, in Phoenix. My cousin's mom was also visiting and had the guest room. So I was sleeping on the living room floor on an old foam pad I had brought with me. Anyway, I was tired of the foam pad and decided to get one of those electric inflatable mattresses. So I stopped at Walmart and bought one. As I came out of the parking lot I noticed all the motor homes camped out in the outer edges of the parking lot. I chose the rattiest motor homes to call on, figuring that someone could use an extra bed. I didn't want to just toss it in a dumpster. I tried two motor homes and met some interesting people, but they had no use for my foam pad. I was about to give up and then saw a really old motor home. I knocked on the door. A guy who was maybe 70_ish peeked out his window and asked me what I wanted. I told him I had just bought an air mattress and didn't need my foam mattress anymore. I held it up to show him. He said, "My butt is so sore! I've been praying for something to change!" I told him that I was the answer to his prayers! He said he needed to put some pants on and asked me if that was a good idea. Ha! Ha! He was trying to be funny and we both laughed. I said that, yes, it would be a good idea to put some pants on. He came to the door. He didn't have a lot of teeth and, looking in, I could see that his motor home was full of junk. But he stood there on his step as cheerful as could be and told me about the power of positive thinking. He said he was developing a program about it. I responded that he was talking to the world's most positive person. He was such a delight. He seemed happy in spite of not seeming to have much.

I got back in my car and was driving out of the parking lot. Realizing I could do more, I parked the car again. I found the remains of a package of cookies in my car and put a twenty dollar bill into one of the cookie dividers in the bag. I knocked on his door and offered him my cookies. He said he probably wouldn't eat them but would enjoy giving them to the birds. I told him to be sure to open them. I'll never know whether he inadvertently threw the package away. But I sure hope that I was able to answer another of his prayers. After I gave him the cookies he said, out of the blue, "I'm not homeless! I'm just broke!" He pointed to his tires and said, "I had to buy new tires last week." I said, "Hey, I've been there. I understand." I drove off in tears thinking how rough it must be not having something soft to sleep on at night.

So, I'm ready to take it up a notch. I'm ready to manifest bigger things. I believe that by focusing more energy on the things I want in my life, I can make them happen. I also believe that I can manifest good things for other people. I'm always on the look out for ways I can help people in distress. My bracelet is my reminder.
