Train Set
Pastel on Black Paper
29 x19
2008
I love the intensity with which a little boy plays with his first
train set. Looks like Teddy will have to wait his turn for some
attention!

My Uncle Pete has 3 adorable grandkids who happen to be
triplets. I begged him for a photo of the kids to work from.
This is the result.

Tuckered Out
Pastel on Black Paper
18x24
2006
There’s just something about the intimacy between father and son
that makes my heart soar. The proud
parents of baby boy, Connor, e-mail me zillions of photos every week.
He’s just too adorable! And I am already working on more paintings
of him. Prints are available.

Wilson
Pastel on Black Paper
29 x19
2009
Here's my latest pastel painting. Wilson
is the therapy dog at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital. He counsels my
sister, Lisa when she goes for chemo. Wilson's owner, Loretta,
lives a block away from me and she walks him by my house several times
a week. Small world! Wilson is really a sweetheart. I've never
met a dog as loveable and huggable as Wilson. (Good thing Chloe can't
read!) Whereas Chloe lives for talking toys, Wilson lives to be
petted. He was truly born for this job. Wilson was a
rescue dog and now he helps to rescue cancer patients.

The Miracle Worker
Pastel on Black Paper
18x24
2007
This painting was done from a series of photos taken by Mel Brooks,
then fiance of Ann Bancroft. She couldn't attend the Academy Awards
Ceremony because she was in a play on Broadway at the time. She got
the good news that she had won the Oscar for The Miracle Worker while
watching TV with Mel. This photo appeared in People Magazine on
April1, 2001. I saved the article all this while wanting to do a
painting from it. I finally got around to it. The expression of
sheer joy is so inspiring! And that joy is what my life and my art are
all about.

Little Connor had to show daddy the flowers. I love the intimacy of
this moment in a little boy’s life.

Goddess
Pastel on Paper

I get inspired by a good pose. I thought Erene looked like a classic
Greek goddess in her prom pictures and couldn’t resist capturing her
in pastel.

Mother and Child
(Sue and Jessica)
Pastel 1996
Having no children of my own, I somehow get sentimental over the
beauty of motherhood. The mother and child theme has always been a
favorite subject for me.
